Open Board View

Open Boardview is a free, open-source program for viewing .brd files — the board layout format used for MacBook and other Apple logic board repair. It gives you an interactive map of every component and net on the board without any subscription cost.

What Open Boardview Does

Similar to ZXW Tools, Open Boardview lets you view trace diagrams for MacBooks, iPhones, iPads, and other devices — as long as a compatible .brd file exists. Most .brdfiles are freely available online, so there's nothing to pay for the data itself.

Since ZXW Tools already covers iPhone and iPad boards comprehensively, most microsoldering specialists use Open Boardview primarily for MacBook repair, where ZXW's coverage is more limited.

Heads up:Open Boardview is functional but not as polished as ZXW Tools. Expect a steeper learning curve and less intuitive navigation. That said, for MacBook board diagnostics it's an invaluable free resource.

Getting .brd Files

The best source for Apple device .brd files is the Apple Schematic board ID database. Search for your MacBook model to find the correct board ID, then locate the corresponding .brd file online.
