We use this tip for cleaning the pads after removing a chip. This knife tip is great when you need more thermal mass, especially for ground pads, since they are harder to apply and remove solder. Just make sure that you turn the temperature down (we use 290C) to preserve your tip, otherwise, they will wear out quickly.
