How to Renew ZXW Tools v3.x

First off, you need to check when your license expires.  In order to do that, you’ll need to login to the software or your online account and check.  If you’re checking online, then look under “date of expiry” to find your expiration date.  If you’re looking within the software, then go to Help | About.

If your license is expired, then you’ll need to purchase a new license.  You can do so from our store.

After purchasing the license, you’ll receive a serial number and password, which you’ll need to enter into your online portal.

Click on “Authorization Code Renewal” on the left hand side menu, then enter the serial number and password into the appropriate boxes.  Enter the verification code, then click on “Immediate use”.  Once successful, then you can go back to “The Personal Data” page and check your “expiry date”.  That’s it!

iPhone X/Xs/Xs Max Face ID Repair with a Torn Ear Speaker Flex

iPhone Face ID Repair

So, you replaced screen on your iPhone X/Xs/XS Max and accidentally tore the ear speaker flex and now your face id doesn’t work or maybe your iphone x ear speaker is not working.  Here’s what the torn flex looks like under a microscope.

The bad news is that there is no easy way to repair it without micro soldering.  The good news is that we can help with your iphone face id repair.  So long as you have original ear speaker flex, then we should be able to transfer the old flood illuminator over to a new ear speaker flex and that should restore face id.

With face id, there are many moving parts to the system, which include the ear speaker flex and the front camera flex/dot projector.  If any of these components are dirty or torn or broken, then face id will not work.  Sometimes you’ll get the “move higher” or “move lower” (your face) error and sometimes you’ll just get the standard “unable to activate face id” error upon startup.  It all depends on what was damaged.

The most common issue is what I described above, which is the torn ear speaker flex.  This solution applies to the iPhone X, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max.

The repair is use low temperature and a low flow rate and very little flux on your hot air rework station to remove the old flood illuminator from the torn flex and put it back onto a new original ear speaker flex.

iPad Air, Air 2, 5th, 6th, 7th Gen Charge Port Repair

iPad Charge Port Repair

Charging problems have become fairly common in these models of the iPad.  The most likely culprit is the charge port flex because of poor design.  Here is a picture of the internals of an iPad 6th Gen.  You can see the charge port located at the top of the image with the four screws holding it in place.

The apple defect is within these screws.  The more the charge port is wiggled, the more the screws back out, which allows for more “play” in the port.  The “play” in the port causes the flex to crack, which breaks some of the lines that lead to the logic board.  Looking at the flex under a microscope, you can see the cracks a little better.

blankThis is just another poor Apple design.  Apple’s solution is to upgrade the device to a new one for $500-$600.  Well, good news is that we can fix this problem by replacing the charge port.

We can diagnose the issue with a $145 tristar tester.blank

Similar to the car OBD scanners, we can plug this little device into the lightning port of the iPad and tell whether the flex port is broken or not.  If the flex port is not broken, then we can also diagnose whether the charging chip is bad, which is another common problem in these iPads.  You can watch a video of our repair here.

iPhone X No Power After Screen Replacement

This has been happening a lot with iPhone X screen repairs.  After the screen repair, with the screen connected to the logic board, but not reassembled with the frame yet, you turn on to test everything and all tests fine, then as soon as you reassemble the phone, there is no power going to it.  The screen goes dark, itunes doesn’t recognize it and just a whole lot of nothing.  Well, the problem is another bad design by Apple.

What’s happening is that the metal part of the screen is shorting out one of the capacitors on the pp1v8_IO line.

It just happens to be that that one capacitor is sticking out past the charge port, just enough that the middle tab on the screen touches it and shorts it out once the screen is reassembled onto the frame.

The good news is that this is an easy fix.  Just replace the shorted capacitor and all is good.  The bad news is that you’ll need some microscopic tools in order to do the job.  That’s what we’re here for!  If you want us to help you fix this problem, then fill out the quote form above and we’ll respond back as soon as possible.
